Five-Minute Tomato Sauce

4 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

 

2 cloves garlic, coarsely chopped

 

chili pepper flakes (optional)

 

1 can (28 oz/796 ml) tomato puree

 

salt (to taste)

 

5 fresh basil leaves

Heat up olive oil and brown garlic, also add chili pepper (optional)

 

 

When garlic is gently browned, add tomato puree and salt. Let simmer for 5 minutes.

 

 

Tear up fresh basil and add.

 

 

Makes 4 cups (1 L)
